Working Weekend of Zveza ŠKIS

Working Weekend of Zveza ŠKIS was in Cerknica, it is a team-building project for all the new members of Zveza ŠKIS. The purpose of project was  to socialize together, to get to know each other, to do plans for a new mandate and to do the team-building. At working weekend we did a SWOT analysis at different ŠKIS boards and at the end we did also at the organizational level, so we did also SWOT analysis for Zveza ŠKIS. Then we also wrote down our own aims for our work in different boards. We also spoke a lot about communication, there was also the idea to create a new strategy for communication.

Last week we had a Board Meeting of International Board of Zveza ŠKIS and we decided that we would like to present our work in a creative way, so we made this video.

Turkish Cultural Night

Turkish Cultural Night was helded at ŠOS on Tuesday 26 of November, Busra prepared the cultural night as a part of EVS, she presented some information (identity of Turkey, videos of typical culture) and she cooked a lot of traditional Turkish food and served drinks. There was a belly dancer as part of night and everyone was watching and dancing together.

I learned about the traditional dances of Turkey and this is a big difference between Spanish dance like flamenco, and also the food is the little different than Spanish, their food is more spicy and with more vegetables.  

In the Turkish culture, because of their religion they shouldn't drink alcohol and shouldn't eat pork, but most of young people drinks alcohol.

Spanish Evening

"Yesterday I organised Spanish cultural night for my ŠKIS co-workers and EVS volunteers. Spanish evening started with presentation about Spain, main important things about Spain, interesting facts, traditional parties, cultural aspects and I also prepared short slovene-spanish language course and at the end of presentation me and my mentor Sabina broke the stereotypes about Spanish people.  After it I invited people to taste traditional spanish culinary specialities and sangria.

I was really happy that a lot of people came to my event and that we did also networking. What is really important nowadays."

Getting to know Slovenia and Slovene cultural aspects.

Razumem vas

Razumem vas is an intergenerational project where students, children and eldery people will collaborate together. It's also a good opportunity for teamwork because people from Skis are sharing their creativity together.

Študentska arena

During 22nd and 23rd of the October,  me and Busra attanded at 14th Študentska arena,  which is a tradicional event for students. To be recognized, to get new members, visitors, different organisations, formal and non-formal ptomoted their activities,also ŠKIS. We took photos of visitors, fairs and various activities which took place at Študentska arena.

Arrival Training

Started for the volunteers that we are in Slovenia the arrival training, take place in the town of Bled, between days 14 and 18 of October. First of all, Bled is an amazing place, very nice and a charming space, almost magical. We are 27 volunteers from all over Europe, and we only have four days to get to know, time goes by so fast! The main objetive of the arrival training is to introduce the volunteers in a new country, Slovenia.
For me it was a very good experience, I have met many new people and it seems that after arrival my stay here will be more complete :)

PICNIC

On Saturday I was at the picnic which skis had planed, and i was taking some pictures, it was fun and helped me to meet many new people, but also to meet my co-workers outside of work. I really liked that organisation because it was in different place so it was nice ti be outside somewhere.

Networking it is  great to make new contacts, because you never know; when someone new showed up, that person can  help you in some way.

ŠOLS MEETING

The ŠOLS meeting took place in Ljubljana at Vojkova ulica on 25th of September at 3 o´clock. At this meeting were presented different points that were discussed by all members of the Main Board and representatives of student clubs in Slovenia.

First of all, they confirmed the daily agenda and then they confirmed report of the last ŠOLS meeting. After that they talked about the purchase of new place for ŠKIS office.

ŠKIS activists presented the financial report of the last 3 months and project plan for Škisova tržnica in Maribor. Also, I will go to this project on 1st  of October. Heads of board presented their work in last 3 months and they talked about the change of the criteria that must be met by student clubs. A second member of ŠOS presidency presented what is happening at ŠOS - Student Organization of Slovenia. After each agenda point, the representatives voted and in this way expressed their agreement or disagreement.

Finally, I introduced myself to everybody and I talked about my project and my job at ŠKIS.
